Emotional awareness & Expressions at schools -2

Emotional Awareness and Expressions from 6 yrs to 12 yrs Children in this age group are more assertive and bonded with their possessions.
Specially with their belongings such as food and books etc.At schools if we find any child
being very careful about their note books and objects it is a clear expression of emotional bonding with their belongings.
Their expressions of fear, bewilderment and sorrow if they lose or forget something are clear indications of emotional expression.
When we see things thrown around it is essential to develop that sense of belonging.
Children at this age also try to fight to show assertive behavior.
The awareness of emotion will help the situation to be understood and to handle.
It is best to separate the behavior from the children and involve them into it as a story.
Stories are liked by all children. At the young age children are capable of correcting themselves as the characters of the stories. The point to remember is that the characters in the story should be as that of the children. This will help the children to look at the behavior with an objective to not only correct but also not to repeat.
For example if a boy is troubling others as in bullying, the elders must quickly tell a story that would exactly resemble in every way including similar names and narrate the incident.Based upon their age either tell what is good behavior or ask them by giving options(Thus indirectly making them see their behavior for themselves). This is a good way of bringing in transformational correction rather than punishing them or branding them.
Questioning them as how it should be / how better it could be / was it good /who do you think was right etc helps in developing insight into the behavioral concerns.
Habit formation in a good way is possible by means of stories, repeat practical exercises of good behavior .
Making children use right words and right actions under role modeling exercises will help a great deal in handling situations in real life.It must be seen that the exercises elicit the best qualities among children.
